Nyakundi: Ruto Has Stretched His Terror Machinery to the Edge
Controversial blogger and activist Cyprian Nyakundi has accused President William Ruto’s administration of weaponizing anti-terror laws to silence dissent and suppress public protests.
In a strongly worded post on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, Nyakundi warned that the government has crossed a dangerous line by charging Kenyans with terrorism for exercising their constitutional rights.
“President Ruto’s regime has now crossed a line no government should dare touch. Charging Kenyans with terrorism for standing up, protesting, or simply demanding their rights isn’t just heavy-handed, it’s a full-blown abuse of state power,” he wrote.

Nyakundi further claimed that the state is using fear and repression to cling to power, accusing the government of misusing national security laws to intimidate citizens.
“By turning anti-terror laws into political weapons, Ruto has revealed the true extent of his fear of the people. This isn’t about national security. It’s about silencing dissent and making an example of anyone who refuses to bow,” he added.
The outspoken critic declared that despite the state’s efforts, the resistance cannot be crushed.
“You can intimidate, arrest, and charge people with the harshest labels you can find, but you can’t arrest a movement. You can’t jail a generation that has decided enough is enough,” Nyakundi said.
He concluded his post by warning that the government’s continued use of oppressive tactics only weakens its legitimacy.
“The more he leans on these tactics, the more brittle his grip becomes. When a government has to brand its own citizens as terrorists just to stay in power, it’s already lost the moral ground, and eventually, it loses everything else.”
Nyakundi’s post has sparked widespread conversation online, as debate continues to intensify over the state’s handling of recent protests and public dissent.
