Kalonzo Musyoka Sends Strong Political Warning to President Ruto: “Prepare to Pack and Go”
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a bold and direct political warning to President William Ruto, telling him to prepare to leave office and not to make things more complicated for himself. Kalonzo made the remarks while addressing a charged crowd in Mwingi, Kitui County, where he criticized the President’s recent hardline stance on protesters.
The former Vice President expressed outrage over what he described as reckless and inhumane statements made by President Ruto, particularly the infamous “shoot the leg” directive allegedly aimed at youth participating in demonstrations. According to Kalonzo, no leader should ever sanction the use of brutal force on children and innocent civilians. “Ruto, prepare to leave and stop making things difficult for yourself. Hakuna kiongozi anaweza kusema watoto wapigwe risasi,” Kalonzo told the crowd.

His remarks came just days after President Ruto vowed to take firm action against those he referred to as “goons” involved in looting and destruction of property during protests. While addressing Nairobi residents earlier in the week, Ruto reportedly said:

“Wapigwe risasi kwa miguu ivunjike” – a statement that has drawn sharp criticism from various quarters, including human rights groups, religious leaders, and opposition politicians.
Kalonzo warned that such rhetoric not only fuels public anger but also deepens the crisis the country is facing. He emphasized that Kenya is a democratic state where peaceful protests are a constitutional right, and leaders should show restraint and maturity when responding to national unrest.
The comments by Kalonzo come at a time when political temperatures in the country are rising. Many see his bold stance as an early indication that he is preparing to challenge President Ruto in the 2027 general election. However, questions remain over who will be the official presidential candidate for the opposition. Will the opposition unite behind Kalonzo? Or will other key figures like Raila Odinga, Martha Karua, or Eugene Wamalwa emerge as contenders?
As the country navigates these uncertain times, the political landscape continues to shift. What is clear, however, is that the battle for 2027 is already taking shape, and Kalonzo Musyoka is positioning himself as a serious contender ready to face off with President Ruto.
