Kenyans with the National Health Insurance Fund(NHIF) have a reason to worry after over 660 private hospitals came out clear on what their plans are.

The facilities under faith based organisation and Rural Private Hospitals Association have lamented that the NHIF branch offices are asking for invoices quoting Sh.1000 rather than the agreed Sh.1400 per beneficiary.

For that reason the hospitals have threatened to withdraw outpatient services for members of NHIF in the protest to the mismatch in the capitation rates and also delays in signing contracts.

Further the health providers note that that insurance providers are yet to share physical contracts 2022-2024 hence exposing them to potential legal hurdles.

The Chairman of the Kenyan Faith Based Health Services (KFBHS)Consortium Dr Samwel Mwenda has argued that they are in a state of limbo on whether to serve outpatient or not because they pose a risk of not being paid adequately.

Due to that the KFBHS had given two days for NHIF to answer their grievance or else health services will suffer a great deal.

Meanwhile what’s your thought on the matter? Do you think that the hospitals are making a right? How has NHIF so far helped you? Share your opinion in the comment section below.
